About the Unit

UTS, Jumbunna Research, Jumbunna Institute of Indigenous Education and Research is unique in Australia. The Indigenous led research team operates throughout Australia with staff working in communities in Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, and New South Wales engaging with collaborators internationally and in all States and Territories. Our vision is to promote, support and embody the exercise and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sovereignty and Self-Determination.

About the role

Jumbunna Research is seeking an Administration Officer to provide administrative support to the Research Office Manager and Jumbunna staff more broadly. The role is interesting and varied with a broad range of responsibilities including finance, communications and client relationships. The Administration Officer contributes to effective external and internal relationships and ensures that UTS policies and procedures are being followed. The position also manages the reception area of Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education.

In this role you will:

  • Provide high level professional administrative support to the Research Office Manager and the Jumbunna team more broadly
  • Support the operational needs of the unit through maintaining central records, undertaking data entry, organising conference calls, updating web sites and maintaining shared spaces
  • Assist with accounts payable/receivable and organise travel/accommodation bookings for senior staff members
  • Provide secretariat support to the Jumbunna Research team meetings
  • Provide reception coverage for Jumbunna Research including answering and/or redirecting phone calls and face to face enquiries from both within Jumbunna Research and externally from students and the public.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Awareness and respect of Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander cultures
  • Experience in providing administrative functions across multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in creating and manipulating documents, spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, flexibility and willingness to assist others

Remuneration/Salary

Base Salary Range: $76,936 to $88,015 pa (HEW 5)

The role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
